Northwestern University Selects Blue to Drive Teaching and Learning Excellence

Montreal, Canada – March 18, 2015 – Northwestern University (NU) has selected Blue as their comprehensive assessment system to enhance the overall teaching and learning experience. In addition to Blue course evaluations and surveys, the university has acquired Bluepulse to gather ongoing feedback to monitor student learning.

As a large institution with multiple schools and colleges, Northwestern University needs a flexible system with a robust feature set to meet a variety of institutional needs. A key requirement is the ability to seamlessly integrate Blue with the institution’s student information system (PeopleSoft®) and learning management system (Canvas®). This will enable NU to synchronize data, automate processes, and increase accessibility. Through Blue + Canvas integration, the university can embed forms and share results in the portal to increase LMS traffic, engagement, and response rates.

One of Northwestern University’s strategic goals is to improve access to learning experiences and to foster teaching excellence inside and outside the classroom. Bluepulse will play a key part in achieving this objective by gathering real-time social feedback to enhance the teaching and learning experience. Designed for the classroom, Bluepulse will enable the institution to continuously improve by using daily student feedback to optimize learning outcomes. With Bluepulse, NU can help raise student engagement by providing a convenient way for students and instructors to participate in an open feedback dialogue.

Founded in 1851, Northwestern University is a private research institution with campuses in Evanston, IL, Chicago, IL, and Doha, Qatar. Home to over 21,000 students, the university has twelve schools and colleges and more than 124 undergraduate degrees and 145 graduate and professional degrees. Recognized for the quality of its education, Northwestern’s undergraduate programs consistently rank among the best in the country (U.S. News & World Report). Combining innovative teaching and pioneering research, the university is committed to the personal and professional growth of its students in a collaborative environment.
