Dalhousie University Expands their Blue Investment with Powerful Text Analytics

Montreal, Canada – September 2, 2015 – Dalhousie University has decided to further invest in Blue by adding text analytics to its comprehensive course evaluations. As a Blue user since 2011, the university chose to expand its use of the system to enhance teaching and learning effectiveness.

Dedicated to innovation and academic excellence, the institution will leverage Blue Text Analytics (BTA) to make sense of student qualitative data. With BTA, Dalhousie University can easily process and analyze open-ended course evaluation comments to discover meaningful themes and trends. This will enable the institution to add hundreds of new data points for analysis resulting in a holistic view of student feedback. In addition, the university will use the purpose-built ‘Teaching and Learning’ dictionary to understand idioms, local expressions, typos, and more to fully reflect how students communicate.

Founded in 1818, Dalhousie University is one of Canada’s leading institutions renowned for its leading edge research and outstanding academic quality. Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the institution attracts over 18,000 students from around the world to its 180 undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs. As a member of the U15, a group of research-intensive universities in Canada, Dalhousie aims to inspire students, faculty, and graduates to make significant contributions to Canada and the world.
